Reading Railroad: Thunder Road

Sean Demory, co-creator of the excellent comic Thunder Road, suggested these two words to my Eternal Slave Steve. Of course, Victor was more than happy to say them.

What is Thunder Road? Well, my friends, it’s best you follow some links I provide here to get a taste of the post-apocalyptic paradise Sean and Steve Sanders have created. And that’s Sanders, not Saunders. Saunders is my pet. Sanders is a gifted artist. You may know him from The Five Fists of Science, which he did with someone named “Matt Fraction“.

For the Thunder Road trailer, explanation (which a great one is provided in the trailer section), and first chapter of Thunder Road– GO HERE.
For Mr. Demory’s take on his own work– GO HERE.

In a sentence? Sean says it best: “This is a comic where the MacGuffin is a NUCLEAR BOMB made of NUCLEAR BOMBS that flies at supersonic speed thanks to a rocket fueled by blowing up NUCLEAR BOMBS.”

Need more before you go clicking on links? Here:
World War III started on Christmas Eve, 1954 when the MacArthur administration ordered an A-bomb strike on Leningrad. It ended with a tense peace treaty signed aboard the locomotive-city Stalin 1 as it roared across the tundra.

That peace lasted eight months, until a mushroom cloud appeared over Wichita and the first Mobile Expeditionary Force made its beachhead in Siberia, leaving the ground blackened under the wheels of their warcycles.

Fifty-three years and six World Wars later…

So yeah– click on those link and find out more! This is something that needs more attention, more love, more comics, and a thrice-damned role-playing game. It’s that cool, mortals.

In other news, I need more one / two word suggestions. You give them to me, I’ll make sure a strip is done around them. Reader inspired jokes are always fun!

Toe-Cuttingly,
Lord Orcus
